Frequently Asked Questions About Our Addiction
Treatment

Will my health insurance pay for addiction treatment there?

By federal law, all health insurance plans must offer comparable mental health and substance abuse treatment. So, chances are your plan does cover addiction treatment. The Mental Health and Addiction Parity Act requires it. Thanks to this law and the Affordable Care Act (ACA), it is easier to get insurance coverage for addiction care than it was in the past. How much treatment and what type of treatment varies from plan to plan. The easiest and best way to find out if your plan will work here is just to call us and ask for an insurance benefits verification.

The insurance benefits verification usually takes less than an hour and you can often do the phone assessment with your admissions coordinator while you wait. Submitting your insurance for verification is completely confidential and private and it does not obligate you to go to treatment here, nor does a phone evaluation. Both of these services are free of charge, no strings attached. They are two ways that we can both find out what kind of help you need and what we can offer you here so you can make a smart decision for yourself or your loved one.

How long is addiction treatment at Desert Rose Recovery?

The length of stay will vary depending on your needs and if you start with our medical detox. We recommend keeping an open mind and remember that there is no such thing as “too much help” for a problem. No one ever went to addiction treatment and wished they had gotten less help and spent less time in counseling. But countless people have chosen to do detox only or a shorter length of stay or even left against medical advice (AMA) only to regret it later. We will recommend a length of stay that suits your needs and means.

Ultimately the decision is up to you how long to say, but some patient who begin at detox and stay with us through IOP and outpatient may get as many as 90 days of treatment. Others may be here closer to a month or a few weeks. Finally, remember the duration of stay in addiction treatment is one of the biggest factors in successful recover. Put simply, people who stay in treatment longer and complete the program are more likely to lock in long-term sobriety. This is a fact backed by clinical research. Consider that when weighing any decisions about how long you or your loved one should remain in addiction treatment. We ask only that you keep an open mind, weigh the facts and consider how your decision could affect your recovery and what it will mean to the people you love.

What does the admissions process look like there?

The admissions process at Desert Rose Recovery is streamlined. Everything begins with you picking up the phone and giving us a call or submitting your information online via chat. Your Admissions Coordinator will go to work for you right away. They get any health insurance benefits verified for you and then explain what your plan covers in plain English and what your out of pocket or deductible costs are (if any).

Your Admissions Coordinator is your primary point of contact up until the day you or your loved one enters treatment at Desert Rose Recovery. The Admissions Coordinator also conducts your initial phone assessment so we can better understand what you need. After your admission gets clinical approval, your Admissions Coordinator will discuss travel with you, set a date and time for your admission and tell you what to pack and how to prepare. Desert Rose Recovery provides discrete ground transportation to and from airports, train stations and bus stops or local addresses if you require it.

How do I know addiction treatment will work for me?

This is a big question. You cannot know for certain, but you control one of the biggest variables. It may sound corny, but your willingness, attitude ability to be honest with yourself and others play the biggest role in your success in recovery as a whole. Successful addiction treatment and lasting recovery don’t come from a magic pill or a therapist saying just the right words. They are the product of willingness, hard work and an earnest effort at being honest with yourself and others. Any rehab that tells you they can keep you 100% sober for life 100% of the time isn’t being straight with you.

Those that tout questionable “success rates” in the 90% range aren’t being straight either. That depends entirely on how they choose to define “success”. Does it mean being sober 1 month after the program? One year? Five years? What happens after that? The bottom line is it’s best not to focus on alleged “success rates”. Your time is more wisely spent looking for a reputable facility that offers the full set of ASAM levels of care.

They are:

  • Inpatient Detox
  • Residential/Inpatient
  • Partial Hospitalization
  • Intensive Outpatient
  • Outpatient

Programs that offer that integrate all of those levels are more complete and they will give you more choices. It also helps to look for only state-licensed facilities with accreditation. Desert Rose Recovery has Joint Commission Accreditation, membership in NAATP, state licensing and we are associated with certified recovery residences. It’s ok to be scared or unsure of yourself.

Almost everyone is at first. What matters most is that you are willing to change and ready to try to listen and learn. A big part of recovery, especially in the beginning, is just learning to trust. Believe that we have your best interests in mind and be willing to try a new way of life. Sobriety really is that simple.

Do I need treatment for drugs and alcohol? Can I just go to Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings?

12-step fellowships are often a key component in helping people grow in recovery after treatment. But they are not a substitute for professional medical care. Some people find they are more comfortable in alternative programs like Rational Recovery or SMART Recovery. Just remember that treatment and recovery fellowships are two different things. One without the other often isn’t enough for a person to get sober and evolve the way they need to for long-term sobriety to take root.

A medical detox, when necessary, followed by a treatment stay of 30 days or more offers the greatest chance for success. Trying to quit ‘cold turkey’ has an absolutely abysmal success rate and is almost always a recipe for failure. That doesn’t mean you’re weak or a bad person, it’s simply biology. The intelligent, scientific approach is to take avantage of all the professional help you can get. Addiction is no joke. You’re in a battle, often it’s a battle for our lives whether we realize it or not. You want every possible advantage so you can win decisively and secure your borders afterward. Metaphors aside, our view is that there is no such thing as getting ‘too much help’ for your problem, but it’s very possible to get ‘not enough’.

Painkiller Addiction Detoxing at Home?

If you are dependent on opioid painkillers, the place to start is with a safe and comfortable medical detox at Desert Rose Recovery’s state-of-the-art detox facility. By no means should you attempt to detox yourself at home without a doctors supervision. At best, you’ll be way less comfortable than you would be with us. At worst, it can be potentially dangerous. It’s really never a good idea. Whether you’re thinking about quitting cold turkey or trying to wean yourself off of painkillers—think again. If this was easy to do and sensible, there would be no need for painkiller detoxes in the first place. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to go the DIY route when you have an expert painkiller detox one phone call away, does it?

Unlike most treatment programs, we provide all of the core ASAM levels of care from beginning to end, here under one program banner. This is a crucial advantage that makes Desert Rose a different caliber of program from most South Florida rehabs. Your care begins at our 5-star opioid detox facility for your utmost comfort and safety. We believe that continuity of care is the key to an effective addiction treatment program. Discharging out of one facility and into another program can be disruptive. With our program, we see you through from day one to completion.

5-Star Alcohol and Drug Detox

At Desert Rose Recovery we know that your time is valuable and you only have a certain amount of it in treatment. We take that commitment very seriously so we make certain that all the time you spend with us is as productive and healing as possible. Another advantage of a truly integrated program like ours is that we get more time to get to know you.

Healing the mind begins with purifying the body and few facilities do this as well as Desert Rose Recovery can. Substance abuse treatment at Desert Rose Recovery begins with our 5-star drug and alcohol detox. Here you benefit from a safe and comfortable medical detox with 24-hour supervision.

Our addiction experts carefully control withdrawal discomfort with state-of-the-art medicines and substance abuse treatment therapies. Because we offer safe and comfortable medical detox as a part of our program, we are able to deliver continuity of care that many less advanced substance abuse treatment programs cannot match.

Finding Peace from Painkiller Addiction

Peace of mind comes from not only moving past the physical and chemical obstacles to quitting opioid painkillers, but by healing the mind and spirit. It might surprise you to know that upwards of 65% of the people who enter treatment for addiction discover that they have a co-occurring psychological disorder like depression. While a painkiller habit may begin innocently enough, people with undiagnosed, untreated mental health disorders may find some form of relief by “self-medicating” with painkillers or other drugs and alcohol.

This is why diagnosing any secondary conditions is key to making sobriety stick. If you don’t know exactly why you became dependent on painkillers and what your triggers are, avoiding relapse can be far more challenging. Many clients see a psychiatrist for the first time in their lives when they admit for chemical dependency treatment. One of the benefits of our fully integrated treatment model is that we get to spend time getting to know you. It means we are in a better position to diagnose and help than perhaps any medical professional you’ve ever worked with. After all, how often do you get to spend this much time being treated? At Desert Rose Recovery, we make sure that time is well-spent.

The Painkiller Addiction Crisis in America

Opioid painkiller addiction began to climb rapidly beginning in the mid-1990s. Before the medical community was fully aware of what was happening there were millions of Americans living with a painkiller addiction through no fault of their own. While awareness of pain killer addiction has increased in the past few decades the problem has far from disappeared. Physicians are much more aware of the risks of painkiller addiction than they were in the past.

However opioid painkiller medications remain one of the most effective tools in pain management. This means that people are still often exposed to the potential risk of painkiller addiction. If you found your way here looking for painkiller addiction treatment, the chances are good that you or someone you love about is living with opioid dependence. The first thing we want you to know is that this is not something to feel shame about. The truth is that millions of Americans have been in the same predicament. The second thing we want you to know is that we understand and we can help. Keep reading to learn how.

Evidence-Based Treatment for Prescription Med Addiction

At its core evidence-based treatment means using the best of what has been proven to produce results. When it’s done well, evidence-based addiction care also means responding to evidence as it appears. One example of this philosophy in action is a personalized addiction treatment plan which not only recognizes your unique needs but which adapts to those needs as they evolve and we learn more about you. For instance, during treatment for painkiller addiction a patient in a dual-diagnosis program might discover a co-occurring mental health disorder. In an evidence-based addiction program the patient’s treatment plan adapts to incorporate the needs and effects of this secondary diagnosis.

That particular element of evidence-based addiction treatment is very important. Of course, the person deserves relief from their depression or anxiety or what have you. But there is another, equally important reason for this you may not have considered. Co-occurring disorders that are not diagnosed and treated properly are of the most common reasons people slip and pick up drugs or alcohol again in an attempt to self-medicate. In summary, evidence-based treatment is informed by real life clinical examples. Perhaps even more importantly it also responds to new information as it appears and is confirmed. This modern type of care produces better outcomes and longer sustained sobriety and, at the end of the day, that is what we want for you or your loved one.

Residential Prescription Drug Addiction Treatment

Our residential painkiller addiction treatment program is where we move into the heart of the matter. With your mind and body clear of the painkillers that brought them out of balance, you are ready to focus on how you became dependent and why. All clients in our evidence-based prescription drug addiction treatment program have a unique treatment plan which evolves with their needs during their stay. Continuous assessment and reevaluation is just one of the elements that makes Desert Rose Recovery special.

During your residential addiction treatment, you will enjoy 24-hour clinical staff on site. One-on one and group therapy along with special groups, plus health and wellness activities that round out a full day of treatment. We offer a standard of care that few programs can equal.

Everything we do here is to not only help you heal, but to give you everything you need to continue to progress after you finish our program. To drive that point home, we also offer superb aftercare support and alumni services to help you stay on track after you finish your stay with us.

PHP Prescription Drug Addiction Treatment

Desert Rose Recovery’s Partial Hospitalization Program is the phase of care that directly follows residential inpatient treatment for painkiller dependence. Here we build on the growing you’ve done during your residential treatment. In the PHP phase of care, clients receive a little more schedule flexibility. This allows for recreation, rest and relaxation time which are essential to healing.

Milestones are an important element of recovery. We want for every person we have the privilege to treat to have a sense of accomplishment from the work they do here. Our phased treatment approach reinforces this way of thinking. It also encourages the people we care for to continue setting goals in recovery long after they leave opioid addiction treatment with us.

IOP and OP Prescription Drug Addiction Treatment

After clients complete the Desert Rose Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) they ready to progress to our Intensive Outpatient Program. IOP is the phase where clients begin to spread their wings and exercise newly minted recovery in more real-world situations. A home-like sober living environment helps you learn to apply newfound tools and experience the value of fellowship in recovery.

It has been said that IOP is like the crucible where the steel of new recovery is forged. IOP is often where we find any remaining weak areas that need shoring up before we finish treatment. Outpatient treatment follows the IOP phase and allows clients to stay connected to Desert Rose Recovery while resuming education or career pursuits.
